Driving Directions



If you are coming from Reno, Sacramento or San Francisco BayArea:  
Take Interstate 80 to Truckee
Get on Highway 89 north, and drive for 45 minutes to one hour
Turn left on the Gold Lake Highway, one mile before Graeagle
After driving seven miles, turn right at the Lakes BasinCampground sign
Follow the signs to Elwell Lodge (Stay left)  

If you are coming from Northwestern California:
 Take Interstate 5 to Red Bluff
Get on Highway 36 going east Highway 36 joins with Highway 89
Stay on Highway 89 until you pass Graeagle (About 100 miles)
About a mile past Graeagle, turn right on the Gold LakeHighway
After driving seven miles, turn right at the Lakes BasinCampground sign
Follow the signs to Elwell Lodge (Stay left)  

If you are coming from Northeastern California:  
Get on Highway 395 going south
About 30 miles before Reno, (at Hallelujah Junction) turn right on Highway 70
10 miles past Portola, turn left on Highway 89
About a mile past Graeagle, turn right on the Gold LakeHighway
After driving seven miles, turn right at the Lakes BasinCampground sign
Follow the signs to Elwell Lodge (Stay left)
